about
Steeped in natural imagery not unlike the previous release ‘watch you blur’, ‘lucky cigarette’ is the allowing of letting things run their course: ‘fading into the sun / going west’.
A little something from Cherry on this release:
“Everything within ‘lucky cigarette’ has a sonic purpose, and this includes the insertion of my saxophone midway through the track. I’ve spent a long time away from using I suppose what people may call more ‘traditional’ instruments in my production. The song being an extension of ‘watch you blur’ is interesting, because it’s as though I’ve finally come back around to myself, yet I’m equally entirely changed.”
lyrics
I can feel us expiring
That heavy claustrophobic feeling
You light your last lucky cigarette
Holding my hands, I'm in a cold sweat
When did I get so unappealing?
You're a burning in my chest
I don't want to to go to sleep
Time is something I can't keep
Morning will come, you'll get dressed
Fading into the sun going west
Fade into the-
You can live in my head if you like
That way I won't have to let you go
We'd give it all, I know I'd still lose
I lay awake at night scared to choose
To turn the light off and hold your shadow
You're a burning in my chest
I don't want to to go to sleep
Time is something I can't keep
Morning will come, you'll get dressed
Fading into the sun going west
You cupped my knee
I count to three
Is there something wrong with me?
Was there something I didn't see?
You're a burning in my chest
I don't want to to go to sleep
Time is something I can't keep
Morning will come, you'll get dressed
Fading into the sun going west
Fading into the sun going west
Fading into the sun going west
Fading into the sun going west
